The healing wound

Created during Artbridger’s intensive eight-week residency at Soho House, Ghanem’s "The healing wound" is a profound meditation on the universality of human vulnerability and resilience. The work, realized in a single, uninterrupted session, channels the energy and urgency of the artist’s creative process into a tactile, layered composition. A central fissure-raw yet luminous-anchors the canvas, evoking both the pain of rupture and the possibility of repair. Ghanem’s nuanced use of texture and color articulates the stratified nature of memory and psychic trauma, while gestural marks suggest the ongoing, cyclical process of healing. Conceived for and exhibited in "The True Value of Art," the piece embodies the spirit of the residency: a space for artistic risk, growth, and collective dialogue.
