Face mosaic

This charcoal mural explores the theme of distortion as a deliberate aesthetic choice. It’s rooted in the visual language of grotesque. The flies and the cockroaches the bugs give it a grotesque feel while the lavish jewelry and the fabrics make it opulent at the same time. The grotesque here is not about horror and shock it’s rather about the tension between the familiar and unfamiliar. By distorting the face, the portraits evokes deeper psychological states. Inner turmoils and fragmentation of identity. While inviting viewers to confront their own reactions to what is deemed ‘abnormal’ or ‘un beautiful’ the mural not only depicts a subject but turns the portraits into a confrontation with unsettling.
