These artworks represent a selection of the pieces I’ve had the pleasure of curating during my ongoing exploration of the diverse and ever-evolving landscape of emerging artists on Artbridger. Each work has been carefully chosen not only for its aesthetic value, but also for the voice it brings to the broader artistic conversation.

Anita Mui's iconic lyric "Unable to behave" from her controversial hit "Bad Girl" perfectly encapsulates the rebellious spirit that defined Hong Kong's cultural awakening. When the song was initially banned by Hong Kong Radio for its provocative themes, it paradoxically catapulted into a cultural phenomenon that resonated throughout Chinese communities. This watershed moment didn't just mark a pinnacle in Mui's illustrious career – it fundamentally transformed Cantopop and ushered in an era of bold cultural expression that would redefine Hong Kong's identity.

I am honored to present "The True Value of Art," a landmark exhibition that marks the culmination of Artbridger's groundbreaking residency program at Soho House Hong Kong. This showcase emerges at the intersection of artistic heritage and contemporary innovation, drawing inspiration from the rich lineage spanning 19th-century art through German Expressionism—movements that have profoundly shaped my curatorial vision.
The residency & exhibition at Soho House Hong Kong marks a significant moment in nurturing emerging artistic talent. Over eight intensive weeks, selected artists have developed their practice within dedicated studio spaces, supported by professional mentorship and a creative stipend. The exhibition presents the fruits of this transformative period, showcasing works that push boundaries and explore new artistic territories.

"Technically Collecting" scrutinizes the dynamic relationship between traditional artistic practices and contemporary technological innovations. The selected works create a curated dialogue among diverse technical approaches to art-making—ranging from masterful oil paintings to the innovative digital editions. This exhibition serves as a testament to the ongoing dialogue between traditional artistic practices and technological innovation. Through these selected works, we witness how contemporary artists navigate the technical demands inherent in their chosen media while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of artistic expression. The deliberate contrast between pieces showcasing technical mastery in traditional mediums and those exploring new technological frontiers fosters a vibrant conversation about the nature of skill and creativity in an increasingly digital landscape. The inclusion of authenticated digital and new media, alongside traditional media, reflects a forward-thinking approach to art acquisition and preservation within this collection. This technical diversity not only documents the current state of contemporary art but also anticipates future developments in artistic practice and collection-building, inviting audiences to engage with art in its multifaceted forms.
