Li Hongcheng’s practice centers on the innovative use of tea as a primary medium, a choice that echoes Joseph Beuys’ radical embrace of materials such as butter and felt to open new conceptual and sensory possibilities in art. In Li’s work, the strength lies in his careful negotiation between concept and form, where material is never merely a vehicle for image but a carrier of thought.
