Reiner Heidorn

About the artist

Reiner Heidorn lives and works in Weilheim, Bavaria. The autodidact painter processes in his oversized and mostly monochrome paintings the relationship between man and nature.

I´m a German painter and work on botanic in large scaled oil paintings. I use microscope images about plants and freshwater and transfer them into expressionistic paintings. With my botanical works I want to point out the co-existence between humans and the smallest critters in every environment. With a unique technique of using turpentine, pigments and oil colors I´ve managed to create the special universe of microscope-images about plants. The main subject is dissolution, my canvases have usually no beginning and no ending. Sometimes I create grasses and shapes of plants, but without any approach to reality. My work is a clear statement against economic growth, against the exploitation of all resources available. People should find themselves in a memory of a dream, they should discover their own unimportance in the whole.
