This painting reminds me of paintings of villages by Wu Guanzhong, although the architecture of Guizhou is rather different from Wu’s native Jiangsu province.. There is a basis of Chinese calligraphy in the emphasis on line, yet a Western influence is also clear, especially in the way the forms of the buildings approach abstract forms.
