In his close-up paintings of plants, it seems that Li Zhenzhong looks closely at this motif, only to forget it and then paint the image mirrored in his imagination. These works employ repetition, in “Charming” the heavy head of a chrysanthemum, in order to explore his sensitivity to decorative effects.
