I went to Victoria Harbour to catch the sunset on that Saturday #1
Oil on Canvas

Curator
Cyrus Lamprecht
One of her notable pieces, "I went to Victoria Harbour to catch the sunset on that Saturday #1," exemplifies Hermia's ability to breathe new life into well-trodden themes. By incorporating her unique color choices and adopting a specific angle and perspective, Hermia manages to weave her personal narrative into the scene, creating a connection between the bustling cityscape and the tranquil nature of the sunset. This personal touch is what sets her work apart, making the familiar scene of Victoria Harbour profoundly intimate and captivating.
About
this Artwork
On the first weekend after all the precaution measures of pandemic were lifted, I took the Star Ferry to cross the Victoria Harbour and enjoy the breath-taking sunset. That is the series of “I went to Victoria Harbour to catch the sunset on that Saturday”. I captured the vivid violet sunset in this series, and they are quite different from my previous paintings that depict the moody blue nights. Objective realistic colours are gradually replaced by my own colour palette.
