“Plainwater 12” takes a more restrained approach. The main body of the sheet presents softly glowing broad swathes of muted colour beige and and brown with a pool of blue and and a splash of red in the centre. In this work the main action is around the edges. A sweeping brushmark in Prussian blue on the left that peters out into drips and scrapes, while on the right an organic, almost vegetal form that reaches up from the bottom of the sheet with greenshoots at the top.
