“Summer Late Night” suggests to me a frozen landscape in the midst of a thaw. A mountain peak, is not far away, like an easy hike across upland drifts of snow and patches of bare ground with clumps of tenacious vegetation. The sky is streaked with clouds softened by distance into washes of muted colour.
