“Mirror of Despair” is an anguished work that depicts a young woman who has just hacked off most of her hair. The 3-part mirror shows her face slashed into abstraction and crying blue tears and tears of blood. It is a powerful work that speaks perhaps to the power of art as therapy.
What that had happened, a child could only vent in the mirror.Years later, she is facing itVenting forcefully, heavy yet healingAnd what she seesBehind the once impulsive loss of control, is the mother's profound love.Behind the once silent, is the distorted love of the child.
