Catherine Karam (b. 1982, Baskinta, Lebanon) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is shaped by a transformative journey of healing and mindfulness. Holding a degree in Fine Arts from the Lebanese University of Fine Arts, Beirut, Catherine initially explored the interplay of light, object, and performance through installation art and scenography. After relocating to Dubai in 2008 and later Doha, she focused on storyboards and concept design, stepping away from fine art to embark on a decade-long personal exploration of mindfulness. This period of introspection informs her current practice, which channels consciousness through Mindful Luminism—a minimalist, color field approach emphasizing emotional resonance. Working primarily with acrylic, charcoal, and graphite on canvas, alongside watercolor on paper, Karam creates unframed works that invite open interpretation. Her art, exhibited through Conscious Walls, reflects a deep commitment to communicating presence and awakening.
As a multidisciplinary artist, my practice is shaped by a transformative journey of healing and mindfulness. I create work that bridges the internal and external, inviting viewers to engage with their emotions. Using multiple mediums, my art encourages reflection and fosters emotional connection, communicating universal themes. In my work, I channel consciousness and awakening through an approach I call Mindful Luminism, blending consciousness with evocative color fields. My paintings, created with acrylic, charcoal, and graphite, are built in layers that I deliberately deconstruct or strip away, mirroring the unlearning process of transformation and reflecting the patience of healing. This process is inspired by the journey of making the unconscious conscious, inviting emotional resonance. Unframed, these dynamic surfaces allow viewers to project their own interpretations, encouraging presence and depth. My watercolor work captures moments of serenity and emotional transformation, inviting viewers to release all narratives and embrace authenticity inspired by the transparency of this medium. My art celebrates resilience and self-discovery, offering spaces for stillness and clarity with the intent to inspire presence and wholeness.
