In the Lace Calligraphy – Parisian Life Series, Hong Wai delves into the personal narratives of Asian immigrants in Paris, transforming their chosen words into intricate lace calligraphy that reflects their unique experiences. For the character "境界" (Jìngjiè - Realm), the artist creatively folds the strokes into undulating mountain shapes, creating a dual visual experience. From a distance, the piece resembles a serene landscape, while a closer inspection reveals the characters themselves, symbolizing the interplay between perception and reality. This innovative approach invites viewers to explore the concept of boundaries and realms in their own lives, emphasizing how different perspectives can reveal deeper truths. Through this work, Hong Wai not only celebrates individual stories but also highlights the multifaceted nature of identity and belonging within the vibrant tapestry of Parisian life.
境.界: 將「境」和「界」字的筆劃摺疊成起伏山勢,讓作品遠觀是山水,鳥瞰時才看到「境 界」二字。感受不同視覺不同境界觀點所看到的,各有其真意
