In this series, Hong employs the "Eight Principles of the Character 'Yong'" as the foundational technique for her "Folding Brushstroke" method. The character "永" (Yong), symbolizing eternity and permanence, is traditionally regarded as a crucial starting point in mastering Chinese calligraphy. This choice is significant, as it not only connects to the roots of calligraphic practice but also emphasizes the enduring nature of the immigrant experience.
永:「永字八法」是古代中國書法的基本書寫技巧,由八個基本筆劃組成:點、豎、鈎、撇、捺等。永字八法被視為經典的基礎。我以「永字八法」2作為「摺痕筆法」創作的基礎,首個蕾絲書法作品是「永」字。透過創作「永」字,我試圖建立每個筆劃的立體摺寫方法,這成為《蕾絲書法》中「摺痕筆法」的初探。
