In the Lace Calligraphy – Parisian Life Series, Hong Wai continues to explore the experiences of Asian immigrants in Paris through the delicate art of lace calligraphy. Each artwork is inspired by interviews with individuals who select a word that encapsulates their journey. Kaixinguo, who has lived in Paris for 20 years and has worn many hats—from marketing professional to Chinese teacher—chose the character "開" (Kāi - Open) to symbolize her immigrant life. She reflects on the dualities of her experience, acknowledging both the challenges and joys of living in the city. Her insight emphasizes the importance of openness and resilience, as she notes that with age comes a greater capacity to embrace life's ups and downs. Through lace calligraphy, Hong Wai transforms these personal narratives into visual expressions, inviting viewers to engage with the complexities of identity, growth, and the immigrant experience in a vibrant urban landscape.
迷:Crystal (汉学书籍编辑/移居巴黎5年)选了「迷」字,她說:蕾丝给我的第一感觉是神秘,我性格比较亂,我接受人生意义系无答案,也像我在巴黎的日子。
