My work explores the psychological transformation that takes place due to external factors over time. Children exposed to social and political conflict are left particularly vulnerable and I am especially sensitive to the shaping of a child’s psyche in response to this exposure to violence. I use the technique of rusting metal as a metaphor to draw attention to the corrosive effects violence on children. Social and political conflict is something that leaves children particularly vulnerable and we see this happening today all over the world. The transformation that takes place through these external factors over time is something I try to express in my work. I use the technique and form of rusting metal as a metaphor to draw attention to the corrosive effects violence in their surroundings has on children.
