“Aurora” is painted like all of the works in this series as if they were woodblock prints with one colour laid up adjacent to the next. It is a study in shades of purple with great variety and subtlety within a narrow range. The image depicts a middle-aged woman sitting with eyes closed clutching her handbag tight in her lap. Her head appears larger than her body as would be the case if we where standing over her on a crowded train.
