Baalbek holds a quiet strength, a merging of past and present that feels both tender and proud. It doesn’t just recall ancient stones; it breathes life into Lebanon’s deep cultural roots and enduring spirit. The figure at the center is not a distant myth but a witness to time’s weight and resilience in a land shaped by history and survival. Ahmad’s work make us feel the pulse of a place where heritage is more than ruins, it’s the heartbeat of a people, especially Lebanese people and those who tribute Lebanon's heritage, who carry their history forward, in both silence and light.
This mixed-media piece pays tribute to the cultural and historical richness of Baalbek, Lebanon. At the center of the composition is the face of Apollo, painted in oil with delicate, classical, sculpture-like face. His hair seamlessly transforms into the iconic columns of Jupiter's Temple, sculpted in a textured, 3D paste that adds depth and sculptural presence to the work. The background is a calm, oil painted blue sky, allowing the central form to stand out in both elegance and symbolism. Gold leaf embellishes the lower part of Apollo's head, a subtle but powerful nod to Baalbek's title as "The city of the sun". This artwork merges mythological symbolism with Lebanese heritage, reflecting the connection between ancient gods and the monumental architecture of Baalbek. It's not just a visual piece-its a cultural homage where history lives on through art.
