“Sea of Emotions’ has been painted in blue over a red under-painting and then scratched with the end of the brush, leaving deep grooves in a repeat pattern of ellipses and wavy lines. Vertical dollops of a translucent material dribble down the surface. The title suggests reading the work as a seascape, but it also has a pulsating energy that is suggestive of the broad sweep of a starry night in some remote location, where the stars glow with a cold brilliance.
Capturing the tumultuous dynamism of the ocean and the depths of human emotions, the essence of the sea's mercurial nature are depicted in the form of teary eyes, a poignant symbol of inner turmoil and emotional upheaval. The dominant hues of blue and violet, punctuated by a subtle hint of red-orange nestled within the textured paint's crevices, imbue the piece with an ineffable sense of depth and complexity. The hot glue droplets that adorn the canvas, some of which are decorated with a reflective metallic sheen, add an element of textural intricacy and depth to the piece. The eyes, formed from dented scratches that reveal the underlying red-orange layer, serve as a striking contrast to the surrounding blues and violets, creating a palpable sense of unease and discord. The interplay between these contrasting colors offers a veritable feast for the eyes, as the viewer is drawn into a swirling maelstrom of emotion and sensation. At the heart of the piece lies the waves themselves, a dynamic and ever-shifting force that represents the very essence of human emotion. The tears convey a sense of deep-seated agony that resonates with viewers on a profound emotional level.Through its dynamic interplay of color, texture, and form, the piece offers a powerful and deeply resonant meditation on the nature of human emotion and the forces that shape our lives.
