Acrylic on reed mat

This work is both homage and documentation, marking the importance of custodianship in ecological and cultural knowledge. Maluleke positions the mat as a living archive, its threads a storehouse of remedy and remembrance.
"Nsinya Wa murhi" delves into the rootedness of healing and land. The surface reads as diagram and map, invoking trees, roots, and the lexicon of traditional medicine. There’s a palpable tactility—each fiber conjures the hand of the healer, the resourcefulness of those who draw wisdom from soil and plant.
