Sometimes after rain in Hong Kong, when the sky has lightened, and the pollution has been washed out of the air, and the streets are still slicked with wetness, the light takes on an almost hyper-real, hard-edge quality. Everything is there to be observed with perfect clarity. In “Rainy day in Causeway Bay” Crosbie seeks to capture this effect.
Showing a rainy day view along Paterson Street in the busy shopping district of Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. I came across this scene on the eve of a Typhoon approaching the city and was fascinated by the reflections on the wet street tiles as well as the many lights from the shops and signs. I wanted to show how beautiful Hong Kong can be, even during stormy weather as a metaphor for the city's enduring sprint and charm.
